Rubber stop above on/off

What is the rubber strip for?

It appears to have fast forward arrows on it, but it doesn't seem moveable.

What's it for?

It is simply a stabilizer strip. It just helps keep the speaker from rolling as easily. When you set the speaker down horizontal with JBL facing you the speaker is in position for optimal sound and stability.
