I to had the same issue and tried everything including a firmware update to resolve. I finally gave up and removed the 5 screws and unplugged the small white ribbon cable from the circuit board. Problem solved.  I did not even know there were buttons on the side.  Never used them in the 3 1/2 years I have had the soundbar.

My sound bar had the same problem.
It reset after I unplugged power from subwoofer and let sit for 30 seconds. Now it’s working normally.

I fixed the issue. You have to unscrew the bottom of the sound bar. Instead of reconnecting the ribbon cables, you leave the smaller one unplugged, and it works fine. I left the larger one intact.

Love the sound on it, btw!

You are a genius! I disconnected the ribbon cable as instructed and the issue went away completely. I haven't used the buttons on the side since I bought the thing. The fix was just 5 screws and 5 minutes.

Thanks for posting this!

It worked for me, CaptainMoustach. Thanks for posting! It was a very simple solution to a very loud problem.

But then that leaves just the remote for volume control? Any chance to get the buttons working again?

Thanks to everyone in this thread! I also took the back off, took out the small ribbon cable (not the other 3 that have foam wrapped around their cables). There was a blue plastic pull, and a black bit of plastic to snap out to release the ribbon cable. Had to give the blue plastic pull a bit of yank, and out it came.
