I have a new monitor (Odyssey OLED G6) which I just setup but cannot get the 2560x1440p resolution as an option on my work laptop. The max it shows is 1920x1080p but when I turn on PIP mode then it shows as 1440p so why does it not give me the option without PIP on?

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

Some laptops will be restrictions depending on the spec limitations in the laptop's graphics capabilities.

For example my laptop can support 4k but I have to lower the refresh rate or it forces a lower resolution

When PIP (Picture-in-Picture) is enabled, the monitor may switch to a different internal scaling or EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) profile. This can expose the full native resolution (2560×1440) to the laptop, whereas in standard mode, the monitor might be reporting a more limited resolution (like 1920×1080) due to compatibility.

A few things to try: Windows? Assuming you've gone to settings > display > resolution, lower the refresh rate and see if it lets you use a higher resolution. Are you using a normal HDMI cable? Have you checked what version? Have you tried a USB-C/DP connection?

I was using HDMI connected to a dock with USB-C output. Plugging the HDMI in directly works as full resolution, this is what I’m using currently but not ideal as I would prefer to have everything connected to my dock.
