Audio Delay from Xbox Series X

I have just bought a new Xbox Series X console and have it wired into my new Samsung Q90T 2020 TV through the game port and then wired via HDMI  EARC port into my Q800T soundbar.

On setting the console to Dolby Atmos there is a significant audio delay from the soundbar which cannot be rectified through the sync settings on the soundbar or the TV.

I have Netflix on the TV and my satellite box set up also through EARC and there is no issue but the is significant issue with the Xbox sound sync which is quite frankly infuriating.

Is anyone else having this issue, and has anyone found a fix? I have spent a lot of money on a new home cinema set up and cannot watch blu rays because of this.

Ahh im not sure if its worth for me then, i need my soundbar for my TV. Especially for youtube and netflix. 😞 i guess i need to wait for xbox to fix this. It seems to be huge problem for everybody. Anyway thank you very much for your patience and time! :smiling-face:

Yeah I know what you mean.  You can always try it but it depends on your preference.  Personally I would rather have great sound in sync than have VRR and the top colour setting but then that does partly defeat the point of having a next gen console.

I'm not sure if there is anything for Xbox to fix on this other than the Dolby ATMOS sound delay.

Samsung need to make affordable TVs that pass through Multi Channel PCM sound, have more than 1 HDMI 2.1 port and support both eARC and HDMI 2.1 in the same port.

Hi All,  I had just noticed this audio lag also.

Xbox X series sound set to passthrough, and changing the audio latency on Samsung display did not have any impact on audio sync.

What did I did discover is that I had forced the Samsung to Game Mode = On rather than Auto because I wanted to force the input for the xbox to game mode.
Anyway after setting it back to Auto, Audio now syncs to video for all apps, but now I have to put up with being notified every time it switches to game mode. (perhaps the firmware can be updated to chose to turn the notification off, also it might help to display more picture and audio details on the info tab to see what settings are being used for the given inputs, other than just the resolution)

I notice also other other bugs in firmware with Samsung Premiere Display that, such as Projection mode incorrectly displays correct mode after being set, eye protection mode incorrect value after being set, keeps losing settings after hdmi port disconnect and reconnect, i can go on with about a dozen bugs... which are annoying to say the least for such an expensive product it's hard to justify the name "Premiere"
Anyone would at least expect the basics to work out the box
I hope these issues are remediated promptly

**EDIT
In sync audio only lasted for that one test before the lag returned on dolby output

Fix for the people that want to get rid of the audio delay until a update arrives from Samsung or Microsoft

The best way is to connect the console direct to the tv. And then the arc hdmi from the tv to the converter eARC port and the soundbar on the converter Audio hdmi port.

If that doesn’t work then can you connect the console to the converter HDMI in port. En then just like above: the arc hdmi from the tv to the converter eARC port and the soundbar on the converter audio hdmi port. But the you can’t get 120hz en no vrr.

It is a problem with Samsung tv’s and Microsoft Xbox one and Xbox series consoles. After so many try’s I finally got a answer from Samsung. They know there is a problem but they can’t fix it alone. It is a combination of things with Microsoft’s console and Samsung and they sey that they are working on it. Hopes up 👍 But I am afraid 2019 models won’t get any support anymore.

I have a Samsung Q90 with the Series X set to Bitstream, then an optical cable from TV toAV receiver and I still get the delay.

I think eArc is irrelevant here because I'm not using it as my AV receiver is too old.

Can anyone confirm that the Thenaudio ShArc fixes this issue? I think it does but would like to hear anyone’s experience. About to drop 188 bucks on it. Thanks!

In the same shoe here….  have the q90r, audio delay with arc/Xbox sx, no earc update ….. been more than 2 yrs now and nothing is being done by Samsung! I did read about the Sharc and i email them with the following reply : “The thing is that in most cases the audio coming from TV ARC port is delayed by the TV with respect to video. This means that there really is no way to go back in time to sync them. Sharc wouldn't be able to "take away" delay that is already present.”

My heard is broken……. , but there are still users out there claiming the Sharc will fix the audio delay so ……
