The commencement of September brought forth a wave of anticipation for Samsung enthusiasts. The esteemed Korean corporation initiated the long-awaited rollout of One UI 6.1.1, initially introduced on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, to compatible devices.
The Galaxy S24 series holds the distinction of being the first recipient of the One UI 6.1.1 update, with other devices poised to receive it in the forthcoming weeks. Notably, flagship Galaxy smartphones and tablets launched in 2022 are also eligible for this significant upgrade.
However, it has come to our attention that Samsung's official press release announcing the rollout may have inadvertently misled certain individuals. This misinterpretation likely stems from the press release's exclusive mention of the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.
The initial rollout of One UI 6.1.1 will be restricted to devices launched in 2023 and 2024. This includes the Galaxy S22, Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8. Owners of these devices will receive the update in due course.
Pre-2023 Galaxy devices will receive One UI 6.1.1 at a later date. These devices will have a reduced feature set compared to the newer models, with some AI and non-AI features being omitted.
Confirmed features for One UI 6.1.1 include Motion Clipper, Portrait Studio, Sketch to Image, and the ability to create live effect wallpapers from any image. Additional features such as easier file copying and sharing, GIF and sticker creation from clipped images, and easier switching between picture-in-picture and split screen are also expected to be included.
The availability of One UI 6.1.1 for flagship devices launched in 2021 remains uncertain. Even if they receive the update, the enhancements and new features are likely to be minimal, considering the limited changes introduced in the One UI 6.1 update.
