So much for data privacy, I have not received the supposed email yet, but I own 3x Echo Shows, which are core to a lot of household automation (as Samsung bailed out of this market years ago).
AMAZON STATEMENT
“As we continue to expand Alexa’s capabilities with generative AI features that rely on the processing power of Amazon’s secure cloud, we have decided to no longer support this feature,” Amazon said in its email to customers about discontinuing the option for local processing.
I think manufacturers under the consumer rights act must be held to account for software updates and ongoing support, not leaving customers with no support, updates or totally useless devices after a few years.
An example is, I also own a Meta Portal GO, which was used allot during Covid-19 as a glorified WhatsApp, WebEx, , Spotify, Tidal portable box, that is now totally unsupported and all app support is now gone.
