Saw this earlier then saw the share price of Nvidia collapse.

Yes it is Chinese but so is so much that we buy today.

Is it really such a big risk on what is merely a mobile phone? If we were talking mobile network core modules then fair enough.

We buy Chinese cars without a second thought so why the issue with phones?

However there have been allegations that Deepseek sidesteps sensitive issues.

Raises the question of whether these models really need massive resources I suppose, interesting to see how this plays out.

Issue with that is, you can download the AI model and run it on your own hardware. No Internet or personal data required. So for once, yes it actually is free and you aren't the product. The only downside is the data it was trained on has been censored for certain topics.

If you run it on the website, yeah it'll probs use that for training data. But you 100% can run it all locally if you have the gpus for it
