I've had a Smarttag2 connected to my Samsung Galaxy S24U for a while now then its battery died. I've just changed the battery and now my phone is saying that the smart tag belongs to someone else and I can't connect to it!
How can I resolve this?

Try factory reset? Google how to do it

I have, but it didn't work, unfortunately. The smart tag is registered with Samsung, and a factory reset doesn't remove that registration.

Never tried it with a SmartTag but I did with an AirTag, it was impossible without the prior user, mobile.

If it's like to you S24U it should be in Smartthings

Previously I had to change my Samsung account on my phone because I was getting issues with syncing to my Microsoft account. Luckily I have an old Samsung tablet with the old account still on it, so was able to remove it from that account, and now I've been able to added it to my new account on my phone. Without that, the smart tag would be useless

Do you have the tag connected to another person's phone via there "home" in smart things app? I had this exact same issue. My Tag was some how under my partners home and I couldn't connect it to my phone, so I removed it from my partners home in Smart things then re added it to my my phone with no issues. Hope this helps?

Yes pretty much the same. Except my tag was connected to my old Samsung account. So I had to log into that remove the tag and then I could add the tag to my new Samsung account 😊

SOLVED!  If it says your tag is connected to another person, it really is!  The issue might be finding that other person.

MY Smarttag was on my wife's phone!  Her phone has it's own account and is not linked to mine in anyway.  Even worse, she didn't have Find or Smart Things apps on her phone.  She bought a SmartTag2, and when I went to install her tag, I installed the Smartthings App on her phone, and MY Smarttag was there!  Holy Cow, how did that happen?

Anyway, deleted MY Smarttag off her phone, and sure enough after doing factory reset on MY Smarttag (push tag button and release, then hold tagbutton and at same time insert new battery, wait about 3-5 seconds for tag to ring, the release button on smart tag).  I was the able to install MY Smarttag on MY phone.   YEA!

BTW, Samsung customer service, while nice and polite enough, we're useless in solving my problem.

Hope all those people that their tag is connected to someone else find that someone else!
