Hi, new to the forum/community...

Its old I know, but my Samsung ST150F digital wifi enabled compact camera refuses to connect to my windows 10 laptop! Anyone know why?

It will connect to my older windows 7 laptop, (four year old) but not this relatively new one (1 year old).

Cannot connect  via wifi or via usb, it just does not show up at all, so cannot move photos form the camera to the laptop. I've tried the ilauncher thing, but that just does not seem to work either!

Yes, its an old camera (about 10 years) but its actually a really nice camera and still works ok. I could remove the memory card, use a memory card reader and then transfer the photos that way, but its a faff and I should not have to.

Would appreciate any ideas? cheers

Hi and Welcome.

Due to advancements in software and hardware sometimes older devices might not work with new software or hardware.

Luckily windows does allow backwards compatibility and you might be in luck.

Do have a read at the below article over a cup of tea and see if you can get things moving.

To run older programs on Windows 10 that might have compatibility issues, you can use compatibility mode, which emulates an older version of Windows, by right-clicking the program's executable, selecting "Properties," then the "Compatibility" tab, and checking "Run this program in compatibility mode for".

Here's a more detailed explanation:

Identifying Compatibility Issues:

If you encounter problems running an older program on Windows 10, it's a good indication that you might need to use compatibility mode.

Accessing Compatibility Settings:

Right-click on the program's executable file (.exe).

Select "Properties".

Go to the "Compatibility" tab.

Enabling Compatibility Mode:

Check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for".

Select the appropriate version of Windows from the dropdown list (e.g., Windows 7, Windows XP).

Additional Compatibility Options:

You can also try running the program as an administrator.

Disable full-screen optimization.

You can also use the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix some common compatibility issues.

Hi, thanx for the reply. I found the culprit, it was an old usb lead not working. When I tried the same usb lead that works on my old laptop, it also worked on my new laptop, so can now transfers the photos via usb. I should have checked the lead first, Doh!

Hi thanx for the reply, see above, it was a dodgy usb lead, switched leads and it now works ok. I know about windoze compatibility mode, but in this case there was no software to install, so that would not have worked, but thank anyway for the suggestion. Issue now resolved so its all good, cheers.
