Samsung fit 2 not accurately recording steps, health app not importing data

I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy fit 2 watch. I have worn it every minute since, and it is dramatically under recording my steps (I've checked this against other pedometers). One one day my watch recorded 8000 ish steps while my phone pedometer recorded over 12000. Secondly the health app is set to get data from both my phone and my watch, but on the day above it gets 150 steps from my phone. Today my watch says 3000 steps, my phone says 5000 and the S health app says zero steps from the phone. How do I fix the innacuracy? I have uninstalled the app, reinstalled. Emptied the cache. I've paused step tracking and unpaused it. I've reduced my height in the watch settings, incase it's assuming a stride length too long. Phone is a Huawei P30 pro. S health app has been problematic from the get go... Couldn't log in until I downloaded an old version of the app to skip login and login manually, before updating the app to the newest version.
