subtitles not working

Hello. I have noticed, that the subtitles (mainly .srt) are not working with mp4 h264 are not working. I usually wait for the best quality release and the files are more than 20gb big. The playback is smooth but the subtitles are not recognized. All files have the same name and are in the same folder. I tried directly from usb disk and from nas via network, same result, no subs. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I have same problem with my brand new Q70R from 3 days ago! Software is updated to the latest, i.e. 1351 (checked today 2020-03-08 CET+1).

I have connected a USB disk with movie files. In this case, I am trying to play a mp4 file with 2 srt files in the same directory. I even changed the filename_eng.srt to filename.en_US.srt and filename_swe.srt to filename.sv_SE.srt but it did not help. (Yes I changed the movie filename and replaced the last "_" with "." to filename.mp4).

When I play the movie, there is no Subtitles option in the setting of the player. I have enabled the subtitles in TV Settings menu, Swedish as main subtitle language and english as second.

BTW: I can play the movie on my old (not smart) Samsung LE40B657 no problem with subs! It is the smart one having problem

Update:

I tested furthur and found that mkv files with internal sub UTF-8 text works and I can see Subtitles option in the players setting but mkv file with external srt sub files has same problem, i.e. no subtitle option in the player and not showing any of the subtitles (files in the same directory as I mentioned above).
