VR Headset

I purchased a VR Headset for my them S6 edge. I've since upgraded to the S8 which doesn't connect to my VR, I've tried the conversion plug supplied with S8 but it's then too long. Is there anyway to rescue the situation or am I resigned to buying a new Headset? Help

According to Samsung on this thread it's time to get a new VR headset, although the conversion plug should work according to others accounts, see more here in This Thread.
