Smart or Spy Glasses (Meta Raybans) ?

I have been watching the progress of the Meta Raybans. I like the Wayfarer style, and they integrate cameras, but I'm disappointed there is no visual AR.

Sadly, of late, all I hear about the Meta Raybans is them being used for surveillance by spies or creepy stalkers.

So, what does everyone think?

I recall owning the first Samsung Gear watches with a built-in camera, which had a loud camera sound. A few people had a privacy issue, and I was taking pictures of them.

Concerns for me are privacy, like any security camera in the UK, but in other countries, the legality is a grey area. Seeing people report their use at various peaceful public protests is worrying.

I wonder if it all goes pear shaped for Raybans, people will start to ditch or mistrust any of their sunglasses, as the beauty of the design is its very close to their non smart glasses.

I am eagerly awaiting the Samsung XR glasses, but unsure of its features and design yet.

I nearly got a pair before deciding I'd rather wait for them to have a display. A wearable camera is nice but it isn't really much more than that.

Yes privacy is a worry but everyone has a smart phone on them. Someone wanting to spy would get a real spy camera, not something with a flashing light showing it's recording. I think no one trying to invade privacy would actually use them.

I thinks is the discreet nature, a mobile is reasonable obvious when pointed at you.

I realised when you WhatsApp video call, the person your calling can see your PoV, cool but again ...

Yeah it's more discreet but you can tell what type of glasses they are. They also show a little light. I'm trying to say you can buy actually discreet hidden camera glasses. If someone wanted to invade privacy, they would get those instead. Or a little camera somewhere else that wouldn't be seen.

Someone wearing sorta obvious camera glasses probably wouldn't get them to cause harm

I do like them and the Instagram link, as ironic I normally mount a Insta 360 GO to my cap of chest 🤣

Yes privacy is a concern (perhaps more in some paces than others), depends if the benefits outweigh that and agree that there are bigger risks than Smart Glasses.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
