Why?

I can't see why in this day and age we have to put up with this.

Samsung.... Baught a phone last year and it lasted 6 weeks. It was such a hassle to get it sorted I ended up buying another Huawei.

This year I baught a smart watch 6 as I needed the extra functions such as ecg and the collision aid. Well I can use collision aid but because I won't buy another Samsung phone I can't use this function. They didn't say this when Samsung sold it to me.

There is a way to make any android phone work with all features of a Galaxy watch (ECG...etc)

I suggest doing a Google search. I don't know the actual name of the app that's required or if it's just a modified Samsung Health app you need.

Watches are usually optamised to work software wise with a phone of the same brand. Same as Apple and Huawei.
I had to download an APK for full functionality from my old Huawei GT3 watch on another Android.
You may have to do a similar thing.
There was a reason and can't recall it at the moment. Something to do with certification I think.
Not to mention that other phone manufacturers have different software setups.

The least they could do is warn you the ecg function doesn't work unless you have a Samsung phone.

There may well be something in some small print somewhere.
But I do think that a Note should be a part of purchasing to advise more prominently really.
