Recently my Gear S3 stopped turning on. It charges ok and shows the status whilst in the charger. The home button also responds whilst in the charger. But as soon as I pick it up, after showing fully charged, it becomes non-responsive - no display no response from buttons.
I can do a reboot via the power button and it says rebooting and then nothing. I did once very briefly get a watch face displayed, for about a second, and then as in other times, nothing. The bluetooth is discoverable any more so I assume this means it isn't actually running properly behind the non-responsive appearance. I also tried the recovery reboot if that is any different but nothing. In fact none of the boot menu options does anything.
Before this happened, it used to turn itself off frequently but I was always able to just power it back on again. I don't know if that was a precursor to this problem. I also noticed the battery consumption is much greater than it used to be when I got it.
Is this now a dead watch? Only just over 3 years!

Not yet. I am waiting for the call from the service center.

Thank you. Been struggling with this all day.
Mine started turning off whenever I used Samsung Pay and then today, when it turned off, wouldn't turn back on, wouldn't reset using any method. I wouldn't have tried doing it on the charger myself.

After my Gear S3 power button stopped working, I began the journey on repairing it on my own by buying replacement ribbon cable for the home & power buttons. Didn't work out. Then bought new motherboard and it worked for a few days. Then suddenly the watch started going into a continuous reboot loop. After much pressing of the buttons to recover it, it finally was able to boot up again. Then after charging it overnight, next day the screen went bad turning all greenish. Ordered new LCD screen on ebay, that worked again for a few days and went bad with the reboot loop and then green screen of death. Ordered another replacement screen after returning the bad screen and same exact thing happened again... reboot loop then green screen of death! WTF? Tried 2 new motherboards and each one stopped working with the replacement screens also as if something with the screen burned out the motherboard. They just stopped powering on.
It makes me wonder how the heck can so many replacement screens and motherboard I tried all of a sudden after a few days just go bad. Makes me wonder if Samsung is sending out a firmware to purposely cause these watches to go bad so that you will go buy their newest watch versions! I am suspicious this might be the case.

End of august 2021 Samsung has released it's new smartwatch. Sinds then my Gear S3 Frontier went from 3 days to 2 days to less than 1 day when fully charged within 2 weeks! Now it will not boot anymore. I am convinced that this is a Samsung marketing strategy to force people to buy the new watch and would like to investigate how many Samsung smartwatch owners are experiencing problems with their pre-Watch 4 smartwatches but do not know how. Any ideas anyone?

Same here. I've kept my watch and my phone's in like new conditions. This literally happened over night, while it was charging.
Now it powers up with 100% battery and immediately powers off. It doesn't even make it to the watchface. As soon as the Samsung splash screen appears, it goes black and shuts off. . UNACCEPTABLE

Mine does the same thing. It shows that it is 100% charged and then powers off. I can't do anything with it. This just started happening recently.

This does not fox the issue. Even while it is docked it shuts off.

I was also having this issue, as it turns out it was a failed battery, it looked like a marshmallow when I took it out and the replaced battery is working fine as well as the watch

Same issues for me I have replaced the screen 10 time motherboard 7 times replaced buttons and ribbon cables 2 days green goes green then watch won't turn on or it goes into a infinite boot loop till battery dies then screen never responds i agree with you I think Samsung is pushing software to crash the watch to force us to upgrade to a new watch have had more issues with the watch since the last updated recived and sad thing is the new watches now don't have anymore ram or hard drive space as these Old s3 frontier which isn't a upgrade if all the specs and the processor and ram and hdd space is the same
