Messenger Notifications on Watch 6

I have recently moved from a watch 4 to a watch 6.  I have Messenger on my phone but I can't see how to add it to the watch.  I am not receiving notifications on  my watch from Messenger.  Can anyone help?  I have looked in the Wear app, apps and notifications but Messenger isn't on there.  Thanks in advance.

In the notification section on the wear app there should be two sets of notification options one says watch apps & one says phone apps, the option too turn on notification's for messenger is in the phone apps section.
