Good Morning. Should be no need to remove battery. Assuming you have a galaxy phone and the gear 3, I would suggest you turn the watch of and then uninstall the "gear app" on the phone. Reinstall the gear app on the phone and turn the watch on again. Follow the linking procedure on the phone and it should ask you to reset password. follow instructions below.
Master reset from settings menu
From the Apps screen, tap Settings.Tap Gear info.Tap Reset Gear.Tap the check mark to confirm.Wait for the device to reset. The device is reset to its factory settings.
