Express programme stays on spin cycle for ever

I have the Samsung WW81M642OBA/EN washing machine. Intermittently, the Express programme stays on spin cycle for ever. The display shows 1 minute remaining, but the cycle never comes to an end without the machine being manually turned off.

I think this could be a software error. Is there a way to rest the software on the machine? Or update to the latest software version?

Hi @Scozzese, good morning.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Ow dear, this isn't right at all. What have you tried by yourself to resolve this? Do you experience this only when you run the Express program?

• Does your washing machine stands stable on the floor?

• Have you also recalibrate your washing machine? On this website we explain how you calibrate your washing machine: How do I run Calibration Mode on my Samsung washing machine?

Keep us posted!

Kind regards,

Martijn

Thank you so much, Martijn! The washing machine is certainly standing stable on the floor. I'll check out recalibrating the machine. I'll let you know how I get on! 🙂

Thanks again for your help!

I've successfully recalibrated the washing machine. On Saturday I'll do the washing, and let you know afterwards how it went.

On Saturday I did several washes, and the problem is still there. But it only occurs on the first wash, which was on the Express programme: the programme reaches  1 minute remaining on the spin cycle, then just stays there "for ever": you need to manually stop the machine.

Thereafter, everything was okay. I did another Express programme, and it finished automatically. I then did three more longer wash programs, all of which finished normally.

So, the problem happens every 2 weeks. And only on the first EXpress cycle, that day. It seems that when the washing machine is "warmed up" the problem doesn't happen...

Hi @Scozzese, good afternoon.

Well a washing machine doesn't need a warming-up at all. When you use the Express program you also need to look at the load of the washing machine. When this is to heavy the washing machine cannot finish the spin program.

When you use the Express program the load can be maximum 50% of the total capacity. Try this with a small load.

Keep us posted, please.

Kind regards,

Martijn

Thanks, Martijn. I wasn't aware of the 50% load limit for the express programme. But in any event, I only use the express programme with a light load. In fact, I only wash 1 item when the problem occurs. So, if anything, it's an unusually light load which provokes the problem. I'll try again this weekend, and see what happens if I increase the load a little bit.

Keep me posted! Hopefully the spin cycle is a lot shorter now.

I was able to confirm at the weekend that the problem is linked to a light load. When I wash only 1 item of clothing on the Express programme at 30°C, when the timer reaches 1 minute to go, the machine stays for ever on the spin cycle. You need to stop the machine manually. On all the other programmes and loads I've used, the automatic programme works correctly.
