I recently purchased a Samsung QN85D TV and am experiencing an issue with Bluetooth speaker volume control. When I connect Samsung-branded Bluetooth speakers, I can adjust the volume directly using the TV remote without any problems. However, when I connect my Edifier R1280DB speakers via Bluetooth, the TV remote does not control the speaker volume.
Here are the details:
- TV Model: Samsung QN85D
- Speaker Model: Edifier R1280DB
- Bluetooth Profiles Used by Edifier R1280DB: A2DP and AVRCP
Questions:
- Compatibility: Is the inability to control the volume due to compatibility issues between the Samsung TV and Edifier speakers?
- Bluetooth Technology: Does this issue stem from the Edifier speakers not supporting certain Bluetooth profiles or technologies that Samsung speakers use?
- Brand Restrictions: Are there any restrictions that prevent non-Samsung branded speakers from being fully integrated with Samsung TVs for functions like volume control?
I have tested the setup by borrowing Samsung speakers, and everything works seamlessly, which leads me to believe it might be related to the speaker brand or the technology they use.
Additional Information:
- I have ensured that both the TV and the Edifier speakers have the latest firmware updates.

It's not you; it's Samsung. There are several other threads that describe this behavior that the TV remote can't control the volume of connected Bluetooth speakers.
You sound like you know more about the tech than Samsung, so please I beg you, can you tell their dev team how to fix it?
