Is it still a requirement for a TV to be on WiFi for SmartThings to work?

If so why?

What is the difference between wirelessly connecting to my network vs hardline if it's the same network? My 2.4ghz band in my house is pretty congested and I have frequent issues with my TV connecting to the wrong node of my WiFi causing my shows to be in low quality or freezing. The simplest solution for me would be to hardline into my network but then I would apparently lose my SmartThings functionality.

My hardline security system can find a wireless touchpad on my network just fine so why can my TV not work in a similar fashion.

Hi! Warm welcome to the Samsung Members community!

The best idea would be to test it yourself.

To my understanding, SmartThings does not require a Wi-Fi connection for your TV. In most cases, a wired Ethernet connection works perfectly and might even be preferable.

If you encounter any issues: Check your TV's network settings. Ensure that your TV is properly configured to use the Ethernet connection and obtain an IP address from your router.

Restart your router and TV: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity problems.

Update your TV's firmware: Make sure your TV has the latest software updates, as these often include bug fixes and performance improvements.

Contact Samsung Support: If you are still having trouble, Samsung's support team can provide further assistance.

Actually Smart Things does require a Wi-Fi connection or another wireless Network. It is a compatibility requirement though realise it will not suit everyone.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

My TV is hardwired in, works fine on smart things...not sure what TV and WiFi hardware combo you're using though
