Smart Remote not Syncing

I have a 55ku6470 which came with a smart remote. no matter how much i play around with this i cannot get it to sync. it switches the tv off and on but the bluetooth side seems to be dead. ive tried scanning for it when in sync mode with my laptop and mobile phone and it dosent appear. Bluetooth on the tv is working fine as tested with a bluetoth speaker. Its driving me nuts!

Could you let me know what troubleshooting you've already tried with this?

Have you tried pointing the Smart Contorl directly at the remote control sensor of the TV, then hold Return/Exit button and Play/Pause button simultaneously for 3 seconds. 

When the Bluetooth Icon displays, release these two buttons. 

Does this start pairing?

Hi yes i have tried the sync buttons a hundred times now for all different lengths of time. I have tried it right up in front of the the tv sensor and further back, the tv just gives the message (not available) everytime it gets a button press from the remote. Also i took the remote into a tv store today and it worked instantly on a samsung smart tv 😕

Im so confused as to why its not working, bluetooth works fine on the tv.

Do you have a standard remote control that you can use to access the TV, @Gords?

If so, could you go to Settings > Network remote control > On.
