My Qn800b tv has worked perfectly since buying it a few years ago.  Last night the “channel banner” that displays at the bottom of the screen via the remote started displaying by itself.  It displays for about 30 seconds, then turns off for about 5 seconds, then re-displays the channel banner again (and constantly repeats).  The remote still works in all other aspects of using the tv such as navigating settings and using apps like Netflix. The “channel banner” can not be operated by the remote.  I have tried (a) resetting the smart hub; (b) turning the tv power on / off with +5min intervals: (c) checked for firmware updates; (d) using a new universal remote control.  Nothing has changed with my tv setup or anything connected to it in the last few years.  It’s like the tv’s software has just glitched.  Has anyone else had this happen? The area circled in red keeps flashing up automatically for about 30 seconds the off for 5 seconds, then repeats constantly. The area circled in red keeps flashing up automatically for about 30 seconds the off for 5 seconds, then repeats constantly.

Exactly the same issue - must be a software glitch

I contacted Samsung and was advised this is an issue Samsung is aware of and is trying to fix.  It is effecting multiple people though i was not clear if everyone was impacted.  No explanation was offered ie if it was a bug in a recent update.   The feedback was clear that the problem was software based rather than hardware.  The short term solution was to turn off the "HBBTV" setting.  On my TV this was in the general setting area, under BROADCASTING, then EXPERT SETTINGS.  I think it was then pretty straight forward and showed HBBTV which i disabled.  It means that function is not available so the channel banner stops displaying.  I wish Samsung was a bit more proactive in disclosing these issue as it would have saved me the hassle of doing various things including a Factory reset.
