I have a 32inch UE32T5300 Smart TV in my bedroom. I don't normally use streaming services (because of the follow problem) but my aerial failed last week and BBC iPlayer is currently my only option to watch the news. The TV is 3m from my broadband hub (full fibre/PlusNet/ > 80mbps) and connected to the hub's wifi (rather than the Deco booster network installed in the house) Since installing the TV 18 months ago I have experienced the following problem when using any streaming service app:

Streams normally without "buffering worm" for about 30mins then freezes (with the dreaded worm spinning) Changing app from one service to another takes an age and the new service will not load and steam. Turning the TV off with the remote (I guess this is standby mode) then back on to the orriginal service does not get it working. HOWEVER if I unplug the set the start again the original service will stream BUT only for another 30min session.

I'm no expert but that sounds like the TV has some sort of internal memory, like RAM in a computer, that is not clearing/managing itself and consiquently overflowing...

Any ideas?

Your observations about the TV's behavior are consistent with issues related to memory management, network stability, or potentially both. Here are some steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

### 1. **Clear Cache and Data**
Many smart TVs have limited memory and storage, and streaming apps can consume a lot of resources. Clearing cache and data for the streaming apps might help:
- Go to the TV's settings.
- Navigate to "Apps" or "Application Manager."
- Select the streaming app and choose "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data."

### 2. **Check for Firmware Updates**
Ensure that your TV's software is up to date. Manufacturers often release updates to improve performance and fix bugs:
- Go to the settings menu on your TV.
- Look for "Support" or "Software Update."
- Check for and install any available updates.

### 3. **Optimize Network Connection**
Your TV might be struggling with network stability, even though your speed is good. Try the following:
- Connect your TV to your Deco booster network, as it might provide a more stable connection.
- Use an Ethernet cable to connect your TV directly to the router if possible. Wired connections are generally more stable than Wi-Fi.

### 4. **Reduce Network Congestion**
Other devices on your network might be consuming bandwidth and causing instability:
- Try streaming at different times to see if network congestion is a factor.
- Limit the number of devices using the network simultaneously when streaming.

### 5. **Factory Reset the TV**
Performing a factory reset can sometimes resolve persistent issues:
- Go to the settings menu.
- Find "Support" or "General" settings.
- Choose "Reset" or "Factory Reset" (this will erase all settings and apps, so note down any necessary information).

### 6. **Check for Background Apps**
Some smart TVs allow apps to run in the background, which can consume resources:
- Check the settings for app management and close any unnecessary apps.

### 7. **Examine Heat and Ventilation**
Overheating can cause performance issues. Ensure your TV has adequate ventilation and is not overheating during extended use.

### 8. **Consider External Streaming Devices**
If the built-in apps continue to cause problems, consider using an external streaming device like a Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, or Google Chromecast. These devices often have better performance and more regular updates.

### 9. **Contact Manufacturer Support**
If the problem persists, contacting Samsung support might be necessary. They might have specific fixes for known issues or suggest repairs if it's a hardware problem.

Addressing these areas should help you mitigate the freezing issue and ensure more reliable streaming on your Samsung UE32T5300 Smart TV.

@StuDew  some additional advice for a stable wifi connection.  Buffering can sometimes be caused by insufficent  bandwidth if a lot of Devices are connected but not necessarily the case.

An idea to  try a soft reset by holding the power button in for around 5 seconds or until the logo appears.   If no effect unplug the Tv  for a few minutes and rebooting router by unplugging from mains may have some effect.   You could also try other wifi channels on your router. Another idea is to change the DNS settings from Automatic to Manual and change it to    8.8.8.8  or  8.8.4.4   (the Google servers).  Go to  Network-Network Settings-DNS Settings.   There are also other alternatives such as Open DNS  .

Primary DNS server address: 208.67.222.222

Secondary DNS server address: 208.67.220.220  See more here: https://www.broadbandgenie.co.uk/broadband/help/best-free-public-DNS-server

Thanks Ethaniel and James

I suspected the TV rather than the network as both of my other Samsung TVs stream perfectly using WiFi (with or without a Fire stick). I swapped one of my Fire sticks to this UE32 TV and it worked fine with no buffering. For the sake of £30 on another Fire I'm going to say thanks and problem solved.
