Audio output keeps switching to TV Speakers

I've just bought a UE43AU8000, and I'm having an issue with the audio setup. It's connected to a Sony DAV-DZ260 DVD Home Theater System via HDMI (on the ARC port) and Optical.

The main issue is that when you switch the audio output on the TV from 'TV Speakers' to 'Receiver (HDMI)', it will switch back to 'TV Speakers' in a few seconds. In the few seconds it is outputting to 'Receiver (HDMI)' everything is working perfectly, audio is being outputted over the optical cable, and volume control is going over HDMI. Switching it to 'Optical' output does stick, but obviously I lose volume control.

Now I realise that the receiver is pretty old now, and doesn't support ARC or eARC, but the TV is capable of doing exactly what I want, it just won't stay there.

Does anyone know how to fix this, and get it to stay on the 'Receiver (HDMI)' output setting?

I had advised them that the hardware is clearly capable...as it's doing it via workaround...and it works for a few seconds when configured as it should be. They just need to sort a firmware update. I've been checking and nothing as of yet.
Either way, you should be able to work around it by connecting to the non-e-ARC socket and ensuring that your receiver is turned on AFTER the TV is. The TV will detect it, complain and then get on with it.

Either way - different socket & power on the bar after.

Did what you suggested and I got it to actually stay on HDMI but i could not get sound, and soon as i go to port 3 for the arc it goes back to tv speakers after a few seconds. I can do Bluetooth thru my receiver just fine but it doesnt turn off the receiver when the tv is turned off and i notice that i dont get the same volume as I due thru the arc. So yea Samsung , still having the same problem with your brand new this years model tv yet my years old NU55MU9000 is doing just fine.

I switched mine to Optical and it also keeps switching back to TV Speaker.

I'm having the same issue with my 2021 "the frame" it's absurd that a firmware patch hasn't been pushed through yet.

Same issue here.

Just bought this TU7000 2 months ago and wish I'd taken it back and got the LG instead. It's absurd that you can't completely  turn the TV speakers off.

I am getting tired of having to keep switching sound back to my sound bar! Fix it Samsung, I have 2 Samsung tv's and a kitchen full of Samsung appliances, but I'll never buy Samsung again!

I have a 75" RU800 and a Samsung sound bar hooked using an optical cable. The audio still keeps switching back to tv speakers. Very FRUSTRATING! @Samsung needs to fix this issue.

I think I have resolved the issue (no help from Samsung).

The problem seems to stem from Bluetooth connections.  I disabled the bluetooth adapter from my computer and now the connection stays on eARC.  It seems that anytime a bluetooth adapter does a search for a new device it changes the speaker output.

Hopefully this gives anybody out there suffering without assistance from Samsung something to try.

I just bought a Sony soundbar working through earc and the Samsung tv keeps switching back to tv speakers. The switch is usually during a power on not in the middle of something. Please post any solution to this annoying problem.
