✏️ Bring Your Doodles to Life with ‘Sketch to Image’

Ever scribbled something on a photo and thought, “If only this could actually become part of the picture…”?

Well, thanks to Sketch to Image in the Photo Editor app, now it can — kind of like magic, but with less wand-waving and more AI.

But, before you get a bit too sketch-happy, here are a few quick things to keep in mind:

📝 What You Should Know First
  • You’ll need to be signed into your Samsung Account and have Photo Assist and Drawing Assist turned on. You can turn them off anytime in settings.
  • When you generate an image, Samsung processes it to make the magic happen — but doesn’t save anything, so your data stays private.
  • AI-generated images are saved as a copy with a watermark and may be resized to 12MP.
  • Results can vary — sometimes it’s a masterpiece, other times it’s… creative. This can be due to law, policy or technical reasons, but don't worry Samsung’s working on improving it continuously.
  • Supported on: Galaxy Z Flip6/Fold6 (and coming soon to Flip5/Fold5, Flip4/Fold4, S24 series, S23, S22, S23 FE, and Tab S8/S9).

🎨 How to Use Sketch to Image

 Step 1: Open Photo Editor

  • Go to your Gallery, open a photo, and tap the pencil icon (Edit).
  • You’ll land on the Transform menu with options like Crop, Ratio and Straighten.
  • On the left, tap the blue Photo Assist button — this is where the AI tools live.

Step 2: Select ‘Sketch to Image’

  • Once inside Photo Assist, tap Sketch to Image at the bottom.
  • (Psst — if a face is recognised in the photo, you’ll also see Portrait Studio appear.)

Step 3: Start Sketching

  • Now it’s your time to shine. Draw something on the image — maybe a tree, maybe a hat, maybe just a wonky circle.

💡 Handy Tip: Can’t draw a neat circle to save your life? Draw it rough and long-press — Samsung will auto-correct it into a perfect shape. It works with other shapes too!

Step 4: Tap ‘Generate’ and Let the AI Do Its Thing

  • Once you’re happy with your doodle, hit Generate.
  • The app will create up to 4 different AI versions of your image. Swipe through to see the results.

Don’t love the outcome? Swipe all the way left to return to your original sketch. Hit Edit Drawing to make changes and regenerate.

* Please note: your previous results will vanish when you edit!

Step 5: Fine-Tune and Save
  • Say you drew a circle, added a few lines, and turned it into a basketball — nice!
  • Tap Generate again, and you’ll get updated results based on your new sketch.
  • When you’re happy, tap Done to go back to the main editing menu. From there, you can add more edits or just Save copy. (Don’t forget: AI edits = watermark.)

Here’s how it looks before and after using Sketch to Image — pretty cool, right?

It’s like giving your creativity a sidekick that actually knows how to draw.

Sketch to Image lets you draw directly on your photos, then uses AI to turn those sketches into realistic edits. It’s creative, it’s fun, and yes — even your stick figures can become something special.

Now grab your Flip or Fold and get sketching — we can’t wait to see what you create. 🎨
