Disable eARC HDM warning for HDMI3

Recently bought the qe50q80AAT and connected this to my Sony Home Cinema system for audio. Regretfully the Q80A is not backwards compatible with that system. What worked great on my UE43KU6400 results in a constantly muted home cinema system.

Solution for me is to connect the home cinema system in HDMI4 and use the optical cable. Problem solved you would think...

However the annoying part is that my Television keeps reminding me all day long that I have HDMI3 port with eARC and that I should connect audio to that port.... I would if that worked but it doesn't so stop warning me!. Is there a way to suppress this warning which I need to click away several times a day.

I tried already to disable to eARC feature but that does not work.

Hi @EGD,

Welcome to the Samsung Community!

What happens when you connect the Sony set through HDMI?

Hi Bruce,
I have tried the following:
1: Just optical --> have to select the proper channel on the Sony. And cannot control volume.
2: Optical + HDMI4 --> works as expected but get an popup to move HDMI3 with earc
3: Use just HDMI3 --> works for ~10 seconds and then mutes the Sony, unmute and after ~10 seconds mutes again, over and over. Not a working situation. Tried (PCM, Auto, direct), no difference.

So for now I am on option 2: Optical + HDMI3 with annoying popup every time I power on the TV. It works but is not nice.

As a side note, on my UE43KU6400 the setup box of my provider switched the TV on and off using CEC. Also not working on qe50q80AAT. Luckily the TV powers off after 4 hours. I do miss my UE43KU6400 which broke down 😕

I understand the issue, but unfortunately this sounds as a handshake issue. This ability to recognize and communicate media and devices is referred to as the "HDMI handshake." If the handshake doesn't work, that means the HDCP encryption embedded in the HDMI signal is not recognized by one or more of the connected devices.

You could try another sound system or a soundbar, I assume that this will solve the issue. Unfortunately there is no solution for this particular issue.

Hi Bruce,

Feature request then? Under Audio. Option to disable "annoying"  eARC audio warning so end users have a little bit of control over their devices. Or is there a hidden " hotel" menu where these features can be accessed?

I will forward this particular issue to our product specialist, but I can't promise that it will be rolled out (within a short timespan) 👍
