S9 FE screen problem

When I opened up my tablet at the end of last week there was what looked like a small crack on my screen. It hadn't been dropped since previous use and there was no physical damage to be seen or felt on the screen.

The screen  goes between having rainbow lines on one side, black (which has got bigger) around the "crack" and clearly there is something to do with the touch screen as it jumps about when unlocked, opening apps and scrolling through, or flashing the screen on and off when locked.

I had a phone which had the rainbow lines problem a few years ago and it was a problem with the hardware, I'm wondering if this is likely to be the same? I'm a 6 hour round trip to the nearest Samsung store to get this looked at.

Looking at the images, that does indeed look like a crack to us. The lines are indeed hardware related as well. If you follow the link below, you can get this booked in for a repair. Our Pick-up service involves collecting your device from your address and taking it to our Samsung Service Centre.

Is it likely to be covered by the warranty?

Physical damage isn't covered by the warranty. A quote for the repair would be generated upon inspection.

But there is no physical damage to the device so how can you be sure if you are also saying this is hardware related?

The crack on the display is classed as physical damage.

That is 1000% physical damage... It's possible to crack the inside without the glass...

Turn the tablet off and shine a light directly onto that spot; you should be able to see the damage.

Samsung will not fix this within warranty. This is not a software issue and was some sort of impact/pressure

There is absolutely nothing to be seen if you shine a light.

The black "line" did seem to get thicker after a day or so but not from pressing it.
