My S3 tablet stopped working. Bought a new S5e, put my existing SD card in, all excel and word documents are  now read only, so I can't make any changes etc. How can I remove the read only, please?

The read only state happens if there is read/write issues with your SD card. I suggest you buy a new SD card, with suitable read and write speeds for the device, then transfer using either smart switch, or your computer, the files from the old card to the new card
