Is photo data sent somewhere when you open the share panel in gallery but don't choose a recipient?

On Galaxy Tab S7+ I was using a Wi-Fi monitor and noticed a small amount of data is uploaded and downloaded whenever the share panel is brought up before actually sending the photo. Why does it do that?

I would have thought it was just your device opening a pathway to share your data when you select the share function @Vanguard2227.
