Video Thumbnails in Gallery

Could we get some extended options for video thumbnails in Gallery? There was a certain update of Gallery (not sure which one but it was roughly about 6 months ago) that changed all my thumbnails to black.

It is now made harder to identify which videos or clips I wish to view as they all have black thumbnails at the start.

For example, could we get some sort of customisation option like (1). Set thumbnail start at X amount of seconds into the video (2). Play video thumbnail in videos from the middle of the video timeframe.
