In settings there is currently a setting called "Repeat notification alerts". This allows your phone to alert you to specific app notifications every x minutes, until you clear it away.
However, with one UI 7 and thus one UI 8, there is a new notification indicator, that shows a dot when you have a new notification. This dot disappears once you open the notification panel, as you have "seen" the notification.
This post is me saying that once that notification indicator has disappeared, because you opened the notification panel, it should no longer repeat the notification alert. Either this should be the default, or it should be a toggle.
