Up to S10+ the AOD turns off if the phone is placed on his display or if is in our pockets also if is very dark.

This saves a lot battery.

Example: I want my Always on display to be active and I DO NOT want to make it tap to show. If the phone is in my pocket there is no need AOD to be on.

I know samsung DO NOT care for it's customers and they prove it many times but I can try to ask for this suggestion.

Hello @maodaa,

Thanks for bringing this up, I will pass this suggestion to the developer team 😊

This would be a welcome improvement for the AOD. Also, the widgets and "look" of AOD don't really seem to have progressed since it was implemented (S9?)

As an aside @maodaa, I've got the AOD set to "Show new notifications". It's not perfect in all situations (it's good at night to avoid unnecessary glow), but for me, it's the closest thing to the missing LED notification light from previous Galaxy S models that we've both commented about recently.

Nope. It's not even close to the functions we are asking about.
Old LED will keep blinking until you do not read the notification. Current one will blink ONLY ONCE, so you will miss notification.
The current topic is also different. It's to have AOD always on with the exception when is in pocket, dark and etc.

Fourthed, fwiw. Since upgrading from S8 to S21 I've started using the AOD as a replacement for the LED.  To catch my eye it needs to be pretty bright, which increases battery drain and potential screen burn.

I've read speculation that constantly checking the proximity sensor might take as much power as running a dim AOD - if that is the case, how about checking it every 30 seconds or so?
