Like many fans within my age range, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 came out at a very formative time for me, I'd enjoyed the original release of Sonic the Hedgehog on our Megadrive but being so young I'd always struggled with it (I still own both!) so I loved the character and not the games yet but by the release of Sonic Adventure I was finally able to enjoy both and this time with a healthy glaze of 90's radical.. ness.
Everything in Sonic Adventure was captivating, the superb OST, beautiful visuals and style and the world that, as a child, felt so expansive, especially coming off only playing the original Sonic, but most of all I remember the great joy me and my siblings had sharing this new found love for the iconic franchise, coming to fever pitch in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle where we spent many hours raising Chao and trying our best to get A Ranks to get the fabled Green Hill Zone level unlocked.
Sonic the Hedgehog was the first game I ever played and while I was blessed enough to be able to play friends and cousins new consoles/games regularly to find many other franchises I grew to love, Sonic Adventure cemented a place for the character and franchise in my heart and I'll always be happy to see what Sonic Team do next.
