Can Someone Explain How Samsung SmartThings Works?

Hi Samsung Community,

I’ve been hearing a lot about Samsung SmartThings and how it can simplify home automation, but I’m not entirely sure how it works or where to start.

Here are a few questions I have:

• What devices can I connect to SmartThings besides Samsung products?
• How does the app help with automating daily tasks?
• Is it easy to set up for someone new to smart home technology?
• Any tips for beginners to make the most out of it?

I’m considering setting up a smart home system, and I’d love to hear your advice or experiences. Thanks in advance!

@Aliza915  As can see from link customers can connect and use Smart devices and Appliances for  products such as Tv's, Fridges, Sensors, Doorbells  and Lightbulbs. A number of 3rd party Devices are supported but would need to check compatibility. can check supported Devices here

A great thing is there are hundreds of compatible brands...too many to list but I've grabbed a couple of screenhots.

Yes very easy (providing the product is compatible!) simply select 'add device' and follow instructions

There are many If This Then That (ITTT) automations you can configure...for example 'when my phone connects to home WiFi then turn on light' or 'at 0800 every day open curtains and switch on coffee machine' ... Or whatever...you get the idea..
