This is one of those obvious settings, but sometimes I miss certain features even if they're right in front of me...So thought Id share- I used to have AOD on but turned it off as it was a little annoying at night.

If you go to Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Always On Display > When to show, change it from Tap to show/Always to Auto.

"Show all the time unless your phone detects that you're sleeping, that it's face down, or that it's in a dark place and hasn't moved for at least 5 minutes." To me, this is useful.

P.S. From reading online, this was taken away at some point, but I can't confirm this. Anyone know if this is true?

Curious if this means a watch or ring needs to be connected?

*Misread message. Don't believe that's the case.

I've not fully tested it, but you'd hope the feature works as it should. Though, hard to test, mind, being asleep and all 😂

Not exactly anyway to check unless you leave a camera recording your phone to find out 😂

You know what's hilarious. Maybe because its 1:40am- but at first I thought you said " I can confirm it does NOT turn off when youre asleep" 😭 all makes sense now

😭 No it does turn off. I've woken up to it being turned off and seconds after turning back on to me being awake.
