I have been a fan of the Olympics since the 1980s's and have seen some exciting and incredible moments, obviously not quite the same this time with unfortunately no spectators possible in Tokyo with the covid situation. Pity for the city awarded it for first time since 1964 but think in circumstances has gone fairly well. Like the Winter Olympics too but prefer the Summer Games. However have still seen some great moments. Some stand out performances for me include Caleb Dressel, Laura Kenny,Jason Kenny,Adam Peatty,Tom Daley/Matty Lee , Elaine Thomson ,Max Whitlock, Ariarne Titmus., Alexander Zverev and Marcell Jacobs.

Jason Kenny had been a bit uncertain at times but finished strongly with victory in the Kerin in superb performance. 7th Gold medal overall and sets record for British Olympian. Unfortunately Laura had crash in first race of the omnium which put paid to her chances. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/aug/08/jason-kenny-wins-seventh-gold-to-become-most-decorated...
The Men's marathon one of the last events and Eluid Kipchoge certainly set the pace in retaining title https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a37249479/2021-tokyo-olympics-mens-marathon-results/ A kenya top two in Women's Marathon as Peres Jepchirchir took the Olympic crown https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/Marathon Sifan Hassan certainly had ambition competing in 3 track races and took both the 5000 and 10000 metres whilst coming third in the 1500 being pipped by both Faith Kipyegon and Britain's Laura Muir who won first Olympic medal in tough field. https://apnews.com/article/2020-tokyo-olympics-track-and-field-sifan-hassan-sports-europe-7251c910cf...

A successful paralympics have now come to a close and GB in 2nd place behind China with 41 Gold and 124 medals in total! Golds have more weight in the Medals table but were also 2nd in the total numbers too. A great games of course for Sarah Storey winning 3 Gold and taking 17th medal overall ,once of our new stars was swimmer Reece Dunne who won 5 medals. Seen a fair bit of it myself. Whilst bit of a disappointment was a silver for Hewett/Reid in wheelchair Tennis as the defending French champions Houdet/Peifer retained their title. Gordon edged out Alfie 7-5 in 3rd to take the Bronze in the singles. Japanese no1 seed Shingo Kunieda took the Gold. Unfortunately Hewett's future uncertain due to eligibility rules.
