Amazon unveiled  its new AI Smart Assistant at the Alexa Plus event today.  Intended to be transformative some of the new abilities include ordering groceries, asking questions, analysing and summarising documents , controlling Smart Home Devices ,sending invites and memorising personal details.  It will start rolling out in late March for US customers,  no word of availability for other markets yet.  Pricing has been confirmed at $19.99 per month but free for Prime Members, will not be compatible with certain older style Echo Devices .

Thanks for sharing! Going to alexa.com and watching the video. The biggest feature I found interesting is the "Did I let the dog out?" Alexa then proceeds to check the camera footage to confirm. AI is growing very quickly.

To little to late, Alexa was the pioneer, but my Alexa Show ecosystem is a total dead duck for years, basically relegated to an enabler, I.e. routines Samsung, Kasa, Hive, Ring, etc.. don't provide, and daily weather announcements.

As a personal assistant, Alexa is rubbish, ChatGPT destroyed it ages ago, so for me sadly this is a lame milky the existing owner subscriber base.

Parting shot, Alexa, Amazon no doubt make more money selling on anonymised data.

Still thought Amazon's offering would be of some interest, good to compare different voice Assistants/AI.

I had Google Home, then Bixby, went all in with Alexa 8s, after a few years dropped to the 5 Shows as never ever used the screen except for Ring doorbell.

Think they are more interested in keeping up their Prime Subs.
