The waveform animation is not working in Spotify on One UI 8.5 Beta 9. The bar stays flat while music is playing, even though Reduce Animations is turned off.
It works correctly in Samsung Music and on PC, so this looks like a compatibility issue between Spotify and the system media player in this beta.

It depends. If you don't have Spotify Premium then this is intended functionality as you can't seek through songs.

This may just be either an issue with your phone, or like @CoolMcCoolson said, to do with no Spotify premium.StfBmZWXMT.png

Spotify PC has some strange rules around Spotify Free. You can do some things which you just cannot do on Spotify Free for mobile. So I would just assume that difference is the culprit

Hello @AaRoNmm,

Thanks for letting us know about the waveform animation not moving in Spotify. Has the animation worked for you on stable software?
Here are a few things you can try first:

1. Update / reinstall Spotify - Open the Play Store, ensure Spotify is up‑to‑date. If it already is, try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it - this clears any stale cache that might interfere with the animation.
2. Make sure that battery optimisation is disabled for Spotify app.
3. Try a different audio output - Switch between phone speaker and Bluetooth headphones - occasionally the animation behaves differently depending on the output device.

If none of the above restores the moving waveform and it has worked before on previous software - Please contact Spotify support as it may be a compatibility issue. You can also report the problem through the Feedback menu in the Samsung Members app. When leaving feedback, please be sure to attach log files so that we can analyze the cause more accurately and make improvements. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you!

Have a good day! ☀️

thanks for the reply but the waveform animation has not worked for me on stable software when using Spotify, so this does not seem specific to the beta.
I have now tested on One UI 8.5 Beta 10 and the issue is still present.
I have tried the reinstalling Spotify and confirmed it is up to date tested both Google Play and Galaxy Store versions
Disabled battery optimisation for Spotify Tested different audio outputs including phone speaker and Bluetooth headphones Turned off Power Saving mode The issue still persists.
The waveform animation stays flat when playing directly on the phone.
However the animation does appear when using Spotify Connect from my PC to control playback on the phone. It also works correctly in Samsung Music.
This may....suggests it might be a limitation or compatibility issue with Spotify on mobile rather than a system issue.
I have also submit logs through the feedback section for further information.

But thank you for helping 😁
