Hello,
a few days ago, the glass of the battery cover of my Galaxy S8 tore me due to overheating and therefore I would like to ask if a repair over the warranty is possible in this case. I noticed the cracks on the left edge of the battery cover on Wednesday, August 8, after traveling 500 miles with my friend. My mobile phone was used as navigation for the entire trip, which is why the display was also permanently switched on. The phone was in a mobile phone holder on the windshield and was protected from falling out in a clear silicone case. Only to change the route, it was once taken out of the shell during a break. When I held it in my hand, I noticed how it was quite warm on the back and let it cool a bit. While driving, the phone was also charged to the cigarette lighter. As mentioned above, I noticed the cracks only at the end of the ride and wondered where the cracks came from, since it had not fallen down and as can be seen in the picture, no center of a crack can be seen. I hope you can help me and thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely, Jonas Gühler

Hi Jonas,

I'm sorry to hear the back of your Galaxy S8 suddenly cracked. If you're in the Netherlands and your phone is bought in Europe, you could visit one of Samsung's service centers and explain what happened there. You could use the map on the bottom of this page to locate a service center nearby: https://www.samsung.com/nl/reparatie/mobile/bezoek-servicelocatie/ Just enter a city in this field, such as Amsterdam, like shown in the screenshot below, then press the search icon and the map will show the address of the nearest service center.

I cannot guarantee it will be covered by the warranty, but they can try to determine the cause of the the cracks in your phone. If the cause is an issue with the device, such as a slightly swollen battery, it might be covered by the warranty.
