Original topic:

Why is Samsung Galaxy A5 being advertised and sold with Android V5 (Lollipop) firmware?

I am seriously considering purchasing the new (2016) version of the Samsung Galaxy 'A5', but I am confused as to why it only has Android V5 O/S loaded, whereas the (2016) Samsung Galaxy 'A3' is being sold with Android V6 'Marshmallow' :smileyfrustrated:.

I really prefer the 'A5', but if it means it doesn't support 'Marshmallow', I think I'll have to go with the 'A3'.

Anyone know why this is the case, please?

Thanks.  Yes, I'm going to pre-order the 2017 version soon.  Seems that Samsung are planning on upgrading to 'Nougat' sometime later this year.

I'd like to pre-order from John Lewis with their 2 year guarantee, but they don't have black available, so I guess I'll be going down the direct route of ordering from Samsung direct.

Thanks again.

My housemate bought the 2016 edition of the A5 on my recommendation and it ships running Android Marshmallow. you could wait or pre order for the 2017 edition of the A5 which are going to cost the same but with much improved hardware including IP68 water and dust resistance.
