Hi,

I have latest 4.2.74.1 latest email and some inline images  will not show. The blue line just keeps moving aling the top  as it tries to download and doesn't succeed. I have the settings of download images and auto download attachments both turned on. Some images will download but i think that the problem images all have embedded links. The images appear ok if i create a reply or forward. I have have switched to blue email, but would mush prefer to move back to the samsung email if there is a fix for this. I have this identical issue on two tab2 devices and one S7.

A solution would be greatly appreciated.

Jonathan.

Hi @Jonathan19

Have you tried connecting to another WiFi router to ensure that the issue is not connection related? To troubleshoot the issue please attempt the following steps on your S7: (Open the Email app > Tap the 3 lines in the top left > Tap the cog symbol in the top right of the pop up window > Select your email address > Scroll down > Sync Schedule (Auto (When Received)) > Limit Retrieval Size (No Limit). Does this resolve your issue?

Thanks andrew.

I have the "no limit with attachments turned on".

I also get the same behaviour when downloading over the 4g network, so i do not believe my router is the problem. Do you have any more suggestions?

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Hi,

An example of this is a channel 4 marketing email with a few pictures which are clickable lisks that take you to the channel 4 website.

Thanks

If you go to your Server Settings, is 'Security Type' set to 'None'? It may be worth having a play around with the general email settings, found before you select your email address in 'Settings'. Open the Email app > Tap the 3 lines in the top left > Tap the cog symbol in the top right of the pop up window > General > View As (Try both 'Standard' and 'Conversation') > Auto Fit Content (This defaults to 'On' so try accessing your emails with it switched off to see if this helps). If you check the settings of the third party email app, do you notice anything that might explain why you are able to view your email contents without restriction?

Hi thanks sgain.

Security on imap server is ssl. I tried "none" and ssl (accept all certs), but neither of those fix it. I switched to conversataion mode and no fit --- then the emails loaded properly once, but thereafter still won't load. The 3rd party app settings give no clue so i think i have to abandon the samsung stock email unless there are more suggestions. This behaviour is new in the past few weeks. Is it possible to roll back the version of the stock email App?

Thanks

Hi

I have two Tab2's, one is OK, the other is behaving exactly the same as Andrew's. Both have the latest email version quoted by Andrew and all other settings of the two devices are identical.  Strange.....  Spent several hours trying to sort and just about ready to admit defeat.  Be pleased to hear of a proven fix when available.

Thanks

Colindale

I have the same problem.  I can see an email if I forward it, otherwise it will not load.   It is related to the "auto-fit content" setting in the email app.

If I toggle the auto-fit content setting the email loads correctly.  However, I have to toggle it each time I want to read the same email.

This is clearly a Sumsung bug.  I wish they would fix it.

I have the same problem on both Galaxy S6 phones.  It started recently.  So I guess a recent app update caused the problem.

I have exactly the same problem with my Note 8 - the problem started to occur after the recent stock e-mail app update.   I have repeatedly reported this problem to Samsung with responses that make me think that they don't understand the problem.  To recap, if I recieve an e-mail that has embedded images, the e-mail 'appears' in my inbox, I can select it, but I cannot see the messge body, only the header.  If I try and forward the message, suddenly the content is visible in th forwarded message.  I cannot help but feel that the App update is responsible for this.  All 'fixes' have proved useless and unfounded (except clear cache) and it's like they're just reading from a script.  Sort the problem!

Any idea on why the fix will happen?
