Google Play Store apps not automatically updated

Hi,

I have enabled automatic app updates when on WLAN in the Google Play Store settings on my Samsung J5 (2017) (Android 9), but I still have to manually kick off the update process. Is there any setting I'm missing so that apps will automatically be kept up to date?

I too find thus sometimes on my phone @phunsoft even though my preference settings are right and set to update over mobile data etc.

I think it may be a ghost in the machine scenario.

I now check periodically in my Playstore and in the Samsung Galaxy Store.
