Galaxy S7 just tried going thru system update again and got error message saying 'failed to update firmware. Please visit a samsung service center'. I did a factory reset and wiped cache, but retry of update did not resolve issue. I'm out of ideas. Anyone?

Hi @Cnoropeza

Can I assume you have enough room in your internal storage to complete the update.

If so and your getting this update through the phones software update section and not via elsewhere then follow the advice to visit a Samsung Service Centre or Samsung Experience Store.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra 512Gb in Phantom Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

@bandofbrothers, thanks for the reply :smiling-face:

Yes, as everything was deleted off as a result of the factory reset, there should have been ample internal storage for the update.

I wasn't aware that samsung had brick and mortar service centers anymore, the one we had in Houston closed. Are they contracted through the 'ubreakifix' stores listed on the samsung site? Those seem to be the only places listed on the site.

A similar thing happened the last major update as well. Before, most bug issues I'd found were corrected with a simple factory reset/reinstall but these last few updates for some reason have each required some radical troubleshooting. Am I gonna have to pay someone every time an update gets pushed out now?  (Sorry, venting done smdh).

You're very welcome for my reply @Cnoropeza

I'm based in the UK where we have Samsung Service Centres and official Samsung Experience Stores.

As your aware updating the software should be a simple affair so something is obviously conflicting between your phones software and the server.

I agree that more often than not a Factory Reset is a life line to remedy issues.

Unfortunately tho occasionally the issue is beyond that and needs hands on by an authorised engineer.

You are not answer the question.  You are sending them to a VENDOR who's going to charge them for a service that should be FREE.  Yes, these vendors who are supposed "Samsung Service Centre" charge.  Its a large scam to me
