Anyone else having trouble deleting app icons from home screen on S8

I only noticed today when I tried to delete an app icon from my homescreen, but I can't.  If I long press an icon I get an unistall or disable option and select option but no delete option.  This means that I can't delete anything from my home screen.  I am not sure when this happened as I haven't tried to delete anything recently but it's very anoying.

I have also noticed that there is nothing other than 5 suggested apps in the app tray and there is no option under configure home screen to add the app button, so don't know if these issues are linked.

Is the software on your phone up to date? Go to Apps > Settings > About device > Software update.

Also, let's try a soft reset on the phone. This will end all processes and give the phone a fresh start. To do this, press and hold the 'Power' and 'Volume Down' buttons until the phone restarts.

Hi, I have auto updates turned on and last update was 27th DEcember but I did a manual check and it found an update and applied it.  I have also doe a soft reset of the phone but it is still exactly the same.  Fortunately I have a shortcut to settings on my home screen because there is nothing in my apps tray, so without the shortcut I would not be able to access settings or any other apps.  Also I do not have an option to turn on the apps button, not that there is anything in the apps tray to access with it
