A70 factory reset using the power and up volume buttons - screen unlock code

Hi,

So, my faithful A70 stopped working a few days ago (repeatedly going into a reboot cycle). I used the up volume and power button to go in and clear the cache and do a factory reset as part of trying to fix it.

In the end, I gave up and sold it as spares or repair as the screen etc was all still in great condition.

The person I sold it to is asking for my pin to unlock the screen (I assume he has managed to get it working).

My question is - even though I factory reset it, should my old screen lock pin still be on it and is it safe to give the code to the person who bought it or do I risk being compromised?

Have you removed your accounts before factory reset

Thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get into the phone with the fault that happened. It kept switching coming up with the Samsung logo / start screen then rebooting etc. I used the up volume and power button to go into the menu and do a factory reset. I did get part of the way through setting the phone up again but then it started the reboot cycle again. (I thought I had to enter a new pin but may be mistaken)

Doesn't the factory reset not completely wipe the phone?
If it does, then the buyer shouldn't need my pin. If not, is it safe to tell him the pin?

You sold it for spare parts I don't see why you should give the pin. Even if you remember it

Thank you for the replies. I did sell it as "spares or repair" so it falls into the category of spares if he cannot get around the factory reset protection in some way.
I feel a bit bad as I did the factory reset not knowing about the protection, but the phone only sold for £20 with a perfect screen (no scuffs etc) and a battery that was still lasting all day. I wish I hadn't bothered selling it!

Hey man, try putting it into repair mode. It will not let the repairer access anything other then diagnostics.

Thank you for the suggestion but unfortunately the phone isn't installed. I did a factory reset from the recovery menu since the phone wouldn't boot properly (kept restarting before I could get to put my pin in).

If it was reset via the recovery menu and you had a google account signed in at the time, factory reset protection will enable.

This means to make the phone work again the original google account needs to login to it.

It shouldn't need the last passcode, just the last google account which is arguably a stronger limit.

If it is factory reset locked, the parts will still work, just not the main board that contains the cpu and stuff

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to reply.
I'll wait and see what happens but the buyer isn't happy even though it was sold as not working.
As the screen was immaculate, the battery was still very good, I just thought someone might want it as a spare screen or something.
Oh well, next time it can just get chucked in the drawer with all the other stuff that is broken!
