Seriosly, the adaptive refresh rate is crap. Not working properly on YouTube on s21 ultra. Not only on youtube, but even after 30 min of using the phone the scrolling on settings looks like 60hz and I have to change to 60 and then back to adaptive. It is a piece of crap. By the the time the phone finds out what I'm doing, it give me few bumps in scrolling until the smoothnes kicks in. Piece of crap...  I use to like android for freedom and options, but now is a piece of crap with samsung. Give me the option to have 120hz and no adaptive, give the fking option you stupid Samsung, don't choose for me,  or  this the is the last Samsung phone I wil use

Hi @icreatura

I'm wondering if the toll on the battery would be significantly higher if the higher refresh rate was set permanently  ?

This thread from another forum might be of interest  Note-20-ultra-has-secret-96hz-display-refresh-rate-here-how-enable.

Not sure if this will work on the s21 but maybe worth a look !

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

On s20 ultra I got WHD AND 120hz and is working fine. I want the same thing on S21. The life of the battery should be users choice and Samsung should give me that choice. From this point of view Samsung is becomes more like Apple and for sure next year I will chose different brand

Hi @icreatura

Just for clarity it's my point of view not Samsungs.

I agree it's your phone therefore should be a choice .

The owner just needs to know this has the potential this can cause reduced battery life may e by a pop up when such a feature is enabled.

Perhaps send your idea via the Samsung Members app  !

Take care.

Go into developer options and find the settings to show refresh rate.. then you can see top left , then check if this is the issue.?

as I see you are the only person to mention this problem

Man I checked before with developer options and the rate is changing, but that is not the issue. Like I said before, after 30 min of screen time you will notice the scrolling is down to 60hz even it's says 120. You can feel it that it's bad. I have to revert to standard and then back to adaptive for the smoothness to kick in again. Same problem with S20 ultra, even is not adaptive on s20, you can feel that the smoothness doesn't stay for more than 30 min. And I don't care is one site is optimize or not, but when you scrolling on argos.co.uk look like a 200 pounds phone.

mines done this a few times. automatically turned smoothness to standard for no reason, even though I had adaptive on. most likely a bug that needs fixing.

The apps are not optimized for the phone as to why the adapative does not work not smasung's falut people don't update to the newest version for the new gen phones, the only thing companies do is the bare min to allow people to acess the site.
