Hi all.

I don't know if I'll have any joy, but I was wondering whether someone with the knowledge could point me in the direction of settings for the Samsung keyboard?

The thing is, I'm convinced there must be some settings hidden away somewhere, or I need to tackle it blindfolded, standing on one leg, in a camel costume!

For years now, I've been using a different keyboard with the old phone pad layout, which was great for predictive text, emojis, adding customised words etc. Unfortunately, since the last phone update it has stopped working and I've had to find an alternative, with next to no joy. The only layout I could find is the Samsung keyboard "3 x 4". While typing this, it's actually working quite well, with the predictive text working 90% of the time. Yet when I try a Google search or Facebook post, I have to select one letter at a time to spell every word. It's so frustrating, and time consuming!

Can anyone tell me if or how I can set it up to work consistently? Is there a personal dictionary that can be customised? Or is there a keyboard that will suit my needs?

I used to use Touchpal, if that helps, and I often only have the use of one hand, due to disability.

I'd be very, very grateful if someone could help. Thanks for taking time to read this essay!

Hi! As you use the Samsung keyboard, it slowly learns how you write and uses this to predict what you are likely to type. Instead of typing, you could also try "swipe typing," which is much quicker. Also, clicking the three dots on the toolbar- enable one-handed typing.

Additionally, the Samsung keyboard has AI correction, which is very useful. I typed this entire thing misspelling and omitting letters on purpose to make my point—can you tell?

Also, with a disability, could you use speech-to-text? The microphone icon is in the bottom left.1748374299989.jpg

Thanks for taking time to reply.

It seems that Samsung keyboard eventually gets much better than my initial experiences! I tried the swiping thing, when it first arrived on the scene, with little success. Plus, the t9 keyboard is ingrained in me.

I did find a keyboard called Traditional T9, but that fell slightly short by being a bit too basic. Then I came across Smart Keyboard Pro, a £2.09 app which I got for £0.09. It seems to be working well at the moment, and is the most intuitive I've found so far.

Hopefully it'll carry on that way 🤞
