Hi,

I've got issue with S9+ that stuck in rebooting loop after regular overnight software update via Google Play. After turning on, it works for like a minute - more or less - and reboot. And again, and again... You've got the idea.

What I've tried already is:

- Phone Health checking

- Soft reset (clear cache partition in recovery mode)

Only turning on in Safe Mode (volume down during booting) has stopped the reboot loop. However, it's hard to use the device in this mode.

Apps that got updated during the night are: Android Auto / Google Drive / X / Signal / Brave / MS One Drive / Google Lens / Canva / Google Tasks / Google Keep / Meta Business Suite / Google / TikTok

Do you have any idea is any of them has any known issue with similar outcome?

About device:

One UI 2.5 / Android 10 - I'm aware it's an old phone but it works perfectly fine for my mom.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Lemme explain a few things that might already be enabled. If you enabled google backups or samsung cloud backups, texts, call logs, settings and a few other small things are backed up.

You can't just hard copy things over, would be easy if you could.

Since you get a few minutes before it crashes. Load it normally, settings, click your name at the top (above connections), press samsung cloud, scroll down and press backup. Hopefully everything is enabled and has a recent date. If that's the case, everything listed is backed up. It's not all your data but it's some important things.

If backups are off or really out of date, you might have enough time to run a backup before your phone crashes. That should backup your texts. (Saying as you mentioned them specifically)

For contacts, hopefully you've been saying them to either your google or samsung account. But to be sure, settings, google, all services, google contacts sync. Make sure it's on, also enable sync device contacts. Google should now store your contacts.

The google backup takes a long time so not even worth mentioning here.

Apps won't have data backed up but they should reinstall after a reset. Just as if they were brand new.

If whatsapp is something you use, it also has a backup system. Depending on your wifi and how many messages you have, you might be able to run a backup before things crash. If you already had backups on within WhatsApp, then problem already sorted.

For the reset thing, you should have options to only reset certain things. Since your phone is running an older one ui version it might not have these options My2b00IKm6.png

Ok - found temporary solution for a problem.

In Safe Mode I've turned off suspected apps (that were updated) and in normal mode I've rushed to Force Stop the rest of them. Apparently it will do the job for a while.

Also have noticed that phone is immediately going way too hot right after turning on (lol) which doesn't happen in Safe Mode (around 39'C - if the app for sensor reading is accurate - right before the restart)

So definitely some app vendor fkd their update, and it's a matter of time to find out which one. This or they'll update the bug before I discover which one is bad.

So my only hope right now is to wait for proper app update asap.

That said, thank you guys for any help you've tried to provide - especially @arianwen27 .
