While this is primarily a Niantic issue, perhaps a gentle 'nudge' from Samsung might get their attention. All Samsung Galaxy Store versions of PoGo starting with 0.170.0 and subsequent updates 0.171.1 and 0.171.2 will freeze a few seconds after starting the game, from various Forum Threads around it seems to be just the S20 Ultra has this issue, i also have an S8+ and i even resurrected an old S7 Flat to test it and all updates are fine on them, luckily a forced update hasn't happened yet but when it comes looks like S20 Ultra players will be locked out, just to point out this also happens on the Google Play Store versions so ball is in Niantic's court.

Had a new update for the phone today. Does not fix the problem for either the S20+ or S20 Ultra.
Still no answers either

Really annoyed this is not working. I have the S20+ 5G in the UK. Currently playing on my old Samsung Galaxy Note 10 . Glad I didn't give it up but i want to use my new phone 😞 Along with the Coronovirus lockdown, this game might have to go on the back burner until we can get out and play again. Stay safe everyone.

New Version 0.173.0 doesn't work

Can also confirm the new branch 0.173.0 has same issue, freezes after about 20 seconds so at least the timer has increased . This was the Google Play Store version, you can also download it from APKmirror, have not seen the Samsung Galaxy Store version yet but i'll assume the same issue will be there, total freeze after entering the game world.
