Hi, my notifications got weird, it doesn't tell me on the icons I've got messages or how many, I'm having to manually check to see if I've received a message, tried everything in settings
Go into settings > Home screen > App icon badges. Make sure you have number toggled on. Second thing to try if still having issue. Give your device a reboot. Hold volume down and power button together until phone turns off itself.
